Terms & Conditions

At Teddy Doods, our mission is to ensure that each puppy we breed finds a loving and responsible home where they will thrive. This agreement is designed to outline the responsibilities and expectations of both the breeder and the buyer, ensuring the health, well-being, and happiness of the puppy throughout its life. By entering into this agreement, we share a commitment to upholding the highest standards of care and ethical practices in dog ownership and breeding.

Teddy Doods Agreement & Health/Genetic Guarantee

Deposit and Holding Fee

1. By putting a deposit on a puppy, you are agreeing to the terms and conditions within this contract.

2. We require a non-refundable holding fee of $500 to hold the puppy of your choice. This holding fee will go toward the total price of the puppy.

3. This holding fee is non-refundable, unless there is a problem with the health of your puppy or our female does not get pregnant. In that case, the buyer will have their choice of a full refund or of transferring that holding fee towards another puppy.

4. If for any reason the buyer must rehome the dog at any point, he/she will return the dog to Teddy Doods with no refund unless discussed and okayed with Teddy Doods to rehome the dog with a family member or friend.

5. Puppies must be picked up by 9 (nine) weeks of age, unless otherwise agreed upon. If the Buyer fails to arrange pickup, the Breeder reserves the right to void the sale and refund the deposit at their discretion.

6. Breeder reserves the right to terminate this contract and refund the deposit at their sole discretion

7. If for any reason you have to take the dog to a vet outside of a normal check up, Teddy Doods must be notified within 24 hours. If we are not notified the contract will be void.

Health Guarantee

1. It will be up to us, the breeders, to decide when the puppy will be ready to go to its new home. Usually at the age of 8 weeks, depending on the weight of the puppy and how easily it is weaned from the mother. We will not, under any circumstances, let the puppy leave before it is ready.

2. The puppy will be up to date on shots and worming at the time of pickup of the puppy. It is very important that you continue the vaccinations and worming. Please do not expose your puppy to high traffic dog areas (pet stores, dog parks, etc.) until he/she has completed the entire vaccination schedule - around 18-20 weeks old. The 2nd vaccine will be due 11-12 weeks. Please make an appointment with your vet for this. If you miss this window you will have to start the vaccines over.

3. We will have a wellness exam at their first vet visit around 7 weeks of age and make the buyer aware of any abnormalities if they are present. The puppy will have been vet checked and deemed in good health at the time of sale.

4. If the puppy passes away, the Buyer must provide a veterinarian’s necropsy report indicating that the cause of death was due to a congenital defect. The Breeder does not reimburse for any veterinary expenses incurred by the Buyer at any time.

5. Health Warranty Exclusions: The following conditions are not covered under this health guarantee:

  • Internal or external parasites

  • Hernias

  • Undescended testicles

  • Underbite or overbite

  • Injury sustained after delivery

  • Allergies

  • Heat exhaustion

  • Coccidia or giardia (which are common in puppies under stress)

  • Hypoglycemia (a preventable condition with proper care and feeding)

  • Kennel Cough

Genetic Health Guarantee

1. If the puppy is diagnosed with a life-threatening genetic condition affecting the heart, liver, or kidneys within one (1) year from the date of birth, the Breeder will provide a replacement puppy as soon as one is available.

2. The Buyer must provide a written diagnosis from a licensed veterinarian. The Breeder reserves the right to obtain a second opinion and may require further testing at the Buyer’s expense.

3. The original puppy and all associated paperwork must be returned to the Breeder.

4. Buyer is responsible for all transportation costs related to the return and replacement of the puppy.

5. The puppy may not be euthanized without prior written consent from the Breeder. Failure to comply will void this guarantee.

6. Conditions such as luxating patellas and collapsing trachea are not covered, as they can be caused by injury.

7. This guarantee applies only to the original Buyer and is non-transferable.

8. This guarantee does not cover any health issues caused by neglect or injury from the buyer.

9. The breeder assumes no responsibility for any medical expenses incurred after the sale.

General Terms

1. The breeder assumes no responsibility for training difficulties or behavior problems. Although we begin training with the puppies at a very young age, it is the buyer’s responsibility to continue training the puppy and continuing proper socialization.

2. The breeder does not guarantee size, eye color, weight, or coat color but we can give you our best guess.

3. If the puppy passes in your care, a necropsy must be provided from a licensed veterinarian showing the cause of death.

4. The puppy/ dog must be fed a quality diet. We start our puppies on Victor Hi-Pro Plus for active dogs & puppies.

5. We will hold your puppy up to 5 days beyond the take home date free of charge. Beyond one week, a $25 per day charge will be incurred. This charge must be paid at 8 weeks of age and discussed beforehand. This charge covers extended care, training, socialization, vaccines, and deworming needed during this time.

6. Our puppies are sold as PET ONLY with limited registration (No Breeding Rights) unless specified and agreed upon by the breeder. If sold on limited registration they may NOT be used for breeding. It is healthiest to spay/ neuter a dog not being bred. Please wait until at least 6 months of age. If you alter your dog before 6 months of age the health guarantee will be void. Early spay/ neuter can be detrimental to your dog’s health as they need appropriate amounts of hormones to develop properly.

7. Once the puppy leaves the Breeder’s care, the Buyer assumes full responsibility for all expenses, including veterinary care, training, grooming, feeding, and boarding.

8. The Buyer agrees to provide a safe and suitable environment for the puppy.

9. Failure to follow veterinary recommendations for medical care will void this contract.
